We learned last week that Bryan Johnson of Tango Marketing passed away February 14, 2013 suddenly and unexpectedly. Bryan was an important pioneer in the Sage ERP channel in North America. As a principal at software developer Macabe Associates of Seattle, Washington, Bryan was instrumental in making
Sage 100 ERP (MAS 90/MAS 200) the iconic brand it is today for mid-market businesses. Macabe created a seemingly endless catalogue of enhancements to what we called in the early days, MAS 90. These enhancements added sometimes big, and sometimes small, features to help make MAS 90 a better product.
Most importantly, Macabe’s products gave us the confidence that we could solve any company’s ERP and accounting software needs with MAS 90. Equally impressive was the organized way in which they produced their products, featuring great, illustrated documentation, consistent program naming, great sales service and excellent technical support.
The enhancement catalog they built was sold to Sage ten or so years ago, and those enhancements, called Extended Solutions, all live on today in an open source market through a dozen or so Sage developers, including our sister company xkzero. Many Sage partners later met Bryan as founder and visionary for Tango Marketing, providing businesses with quality newsletters, websites and additional, important marketing advice.
The legacy of Bryan’s work at Macabe and Tango will endure for years to come.
According to this published report there will be a celebration for Bryan this summer. http://washington.obituaries.funeral.com/2013/02/24/bryan-edward-johnson/
Many of us at MicroAccounting knew Bryan well and we will miss him dearly. His legacy through his work at Macabe and Tango will endure for many years to come.
