There is a major update from Microsoft that affects Remote Desktop Connection. If you try to remote into a Windows 2012 R2 server or Windows 2016 server, you might get the following error message on your workstation:
The following article from Microsoft states they are rolling out an update to the client and to the servers on May 8th 2016:
The update was pushed to all Windows 2012R2 and Windows 2016 Servers. It was also pushed to Windows 7 and Windows 10 workstations.
To fix the issue make sure you update your servers and workstations to the latest windows update. If that is not possible, you need to add the following registry entry to your local workstation:
When complete, your system registry should look like this:
Please note that you will need to reboot your workstation after making the change.
