Contemplating a Move From Sage 100 to a Cloud ERP? Find Out if Sage Intacct is the Right Choice

A few years ago, Sage stirred up some confusion by changing the name of its flagship ERP solution to Sage 100cloud. The cloud designation came with enhanced functionality and improved integration capabilities, with several “cloud connected” integrations, but Sage 100cloud remains primarily an on-premise solution. Today, true cloud ERP solutions are rapidly becoming the norm, making some Sage 100cloud users wonder if they should make the switch.

If you’ve been considering a migration from Sage 100cloud to a cloud-based ERP like Sage Intacct you may have questions — and we’ve got answers.

1) Should I be exploring cloud solutions now?

The short answer is yes. This doesn’t mean you need to migrate, or that even a migration is right for you, but it’s always best to understand your options, especially if one of more of the following is true of your organization:

  • You have multiple entities and/or multiple locations and are managing a complex organizational structure requiring consolidations, eliminations, inter-entity transactions, and allocations.
  • You’re in the software, business and professional services, not-for-profit, financial services, healthcare, entertainment, or hospitality industries.
  • You’re experiencing or anticipating growth.
  • You find yourself relying on spreadsheets for reporting and analytics and spend too much time doing it.
  • You’re using one or more cloud solutions that need/want to integrate to your core financial modules.

2) What are some of the benefits of moving to Sage Intacct?

Our clients that have moved to Sage Intacct report significant benefits, including:

  • Improved reporting and visibility with unlimited data dimensions using real-time reporting and customizable dashboards
  • Automated business processes and workflows, including quote-to-cash, purchase to payment, and consolidations
  • Automated multi-entity management
  • Streamlined integration with other best-in-class applications such as AP automation, expense management, CRM, and budgeting and forecasting
  • Web-based (browser) access from any device

3) Is Sage Intacct a good fit for my organization?

The honest answer is maybe. Sage 100cloud has a rich and celebrated history of excellence in the distribution and discrete manufacturing sectors and remains an ideal choice for companies in these industries. Sage Intacct’s strengths resonate most clearly for companies in the financial services, franchises, healthcare, hospitality, subscription and SaaS, construction, and nonprofit sectors.

While Sage Intacct can certainly work for distribution companies, its current functionality is not as robust in this area as Sage 100cloud; However, if needed, there are third party distribution solution add-ons available for Sage Intacct. Process manufacturing companies considering a move may want to consider Sage X3 to meet their unique requirements.

4) What if I’m not ready to go all-in with cloud?

If you want to enjoy many of the benefits of a cloud ERP solution, such as minimal IT requirements, you might consider a hosting arrangement, where your Sage 100cloud is hosted remotely on secure servers in a secure facility and accessed remotely over the internet back at your office (or anywhere you may be working). We can help you with this option too, contact us to learn more about it.

5) Is Sage 100cloud going away?

Absolutely not. Sage 100cloud is not going anywhere. Sage continues to actively invest in Sage 100cloud and has an extensive roadmap with enhancements to come. Sage, and MicroAccounting, remain committed to Sage 100cloud.
